Broken Forty in the spotlight

Sunday, May 31st, 2009 by Broken Forty

The City Spotlight
Well our friend Graham (a.k.a The Mayor) over at City of Films has done an interview with Broken Forty.

The URL of the interview is http://cityoffilms.com/story.php?id=601.

It is an interesting interview which is worth a read, and so is the rest of the City of Films website.

Yes, you read that correctly: Broken Forty is developing a contemporary Comedy-Thriller called Lost Case.

This is our newest project, conceived only a few weeks ago and although it is our newest, it is quickly becoming one of our favourites. We don’t want to post too many details as everything is extremely subject to change at this point.

One thing we can tell you, though, is that it will feature cops, kids,  mobsters, and crooked corporate executives all scrambling to get their hands on the Lost Case.

Guess who’s going to Banff?

WE ARE!!

"WE ARE!!"

It is official: Broken Forty will be at BANFF in June to pitch our TV comedy series BIG DREAMS.

We’ve got a hell of a lot of work to get done in the weeks to come and you can read about it all here.

We are extremely excited to be attending one of the world’s premiere Television markets and hope to make good use of it. We are hard at work perfecting our Bible and Pilot script, designing and printing promotional materials and constantly practicing our pitch on friends and family. The road to Banff has been rocky thus far, but if we can make it through this without being banished from the industry, we believe Broken Forty will make it’s mark in 2009.

Moment of truth…

After exhausting all the possible options we could come up with to get to the Banff World Television Festival for free, or even on a 2-for-1 basis, Nathan and I have come to our last resort. We applied for Banff’s “Rookie Rate,” which would give us a substantial savings, but still cost us over a thousand dollars each, which on our salaries will be a tough pill to swallow. It remains to be seen if we even make the cut at that rate, and if not, we will have to try again next year.

In the mean time, we are continuing to prepare as if we will be there in June. We are putting the finishing touches on our site and working on our promo-material, as well as tuning up the script and series bible for Big Dreams.

We will keep you posted on any and ALL new developments…

Stay tuned…

Straight from the belly of the beast…

I’m back…

I have just returned from the most ill-timed vacation I’ll ever take – a trip to Mexico’s Mayan Riviera in the middle of the swine-flu outbreak.

I made the trip to attend my sister Caitlin and her now husband Jeff’s destination wedding, and aside from the intense paranoia and compulsive hand washing, it was a beautiful ceremony and a great celebration.

Now, barring any flu symptoms developing, it’s back to work! We have our work cut out for us at this point, trying to get our website completely up to date (some of our content still falls into the category of “place holder”) and finding out how on earth we can get to Banff in June… So stay tuned for more content and UP TO THE MINUTE, BREAKING NEWS!!!
